Over the course of more than fifteen years, Nathan Thompson and The Flaming
Beacon have completed many projects in Asia, Africa, Australasia, North and
Central America, South America and Europe, having collaborated with
designers and architects such as Kerry Hill Architects, Denniston Architects
and Planners, Layan Design Group, Northpoint Architects, Jaya Ibrahim, Carr
Design Group, Swaney Draper Architects, Bates Smart Architects, BNN and many
others. |

Known for its lighting design leadership in international hospitality and
tourism, The Flaming Beacon has worked on many niche hotel projects
including properties for operators such as Aman Resorts and GHM as well as
several individual signature projects like Hotel Lindrum in Melbourne and
Flying Fish Restaurant in Sydney. The Flaming Beacon have also completed
many hotel projects for large international operators like Hilton, Regent
and Sol. |

The Flaming Beacon has also participated in public planning and design,
producing the Victoria Dock Lighting Master Plan at Melbourne's Docklands
for Lend Lease and having lit The Field of Bells at Birrarung Marr parkland
for The City of Melbourne. Nathan's ongoing dialogue with designer/artist
Christian Moeller recently led to the development of lighting design
guidelines for the Seattle Monorail, having grown from their ongoing
collaboration on arts projects such as 'Audio-Grove', which received the
prestigious Prix Ars Electronica. |

The Flaming Beacon's commitment to the arts has led to performance projects
with diverse groups including Chamber Made Opera, The Australian Ballet, the
Institute for Complex Entertainment (Nathan is a founding member), the West
Australian Ballet, Stelarc, Melbourne Opera, The Ennio Morricone Experience,
Playbox Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Melbourne Festival and others
and has crossed the spectrum of artistic endeavour from traditional
performance forms to in-body sculpture and avant-garde visual installation
work. |
