Rob is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and gained his initial professional experience as a designer for theatre and live events. He joined The Flaming Beacon in 2009, and subsequently acquired further qualifications in architectural lighting design from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Rob has contributed to lighting design projects in Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East and North America.

Now based in Madrid, and having recently become a Company Director, Rob now carries responsibility for Development Operations and Contracts.

Enrico has an Bachelor degree in Interior Design and a Masters Degree in Lighting Design and LED Technology from Politecnico di Milano.

Before joining The Flaming Beacon in 2016, Enrico worked out of Milan designing and managing the installation of lighting schemes for several highest-end luxury retail brands in many cities across Europe and Asia.

Enrico now leads one of the three Melbourne design teams and is looking after exclusive hotel projects in Australia, China, The Maldives and Korea.

Imelda received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Indonesia’s Bandung Institute of Technology in 2001. She worked as an architect in Jakarta before her focus was completely drawn to architectural lighting design. With six years of professional experience as a lighting designer in Indonesia, including work designing and commissioning hotel lighting control systems, she subsequently moved to Germany to undertake the master’s degree program in Architectural Lighting Design at Hochschule Wismar, with a thesis on sustainable lighting in mixed-use context.

Imelda joined The Flaming Beacon in Melbourne in 2010, and has contributed to a broad range of projects in Myanmar, Australia, China, the Maldives, France and Indonesia. She leads one of the Melbourne studio’s design teams and is looking after important hotel projects in China, The Seychelles, Korea and the USA.

Jaques is a Design and Planning (Arch) graduate of The University of Melbourne and holds postgraduate qualifications in lighting design. He joined The Flaming Beacon in 1994. Since then he has designed and managed a wide range of architectural projects locally and internationally, from exclusive residential and boutique hotels to large scale commercial projects. Several of his projects have won significant international design awards.

Jaques taught at the inaugural Paju Light Festival workshop in Korea and is involved in several small sustainability collaborations. He brings his considerable accumulated experience and knowledge, along with a passion for photography and architecture, into his design thinking. Jaques is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and of the Illuminating Engineering Society, and carries the Certified Lighting Designer credential.

Since 1975, Nathan has worked with light in many spheres, including corporate, theatrical and music performance, specialist manufacturing and contracting, art-making, education, and design consulting. He founded The Flaming Beacon in 1986.

An autodidactic himself, Nathan has taught at colleges and universities in Australia, Germany and the USA, most recently teaching in the Architectural Lighting Design master’s program at Hochschule Wismar in Germany between 2009 and 2023. Nathan is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society.

He has presented lectures and workshops at design conferences and professional association events in many countries over the last several decades.
